West Brom defender Conor Townsend sends message to Daryl Dike after injury news

West Brom defender Conor Townsend has sent words of encouragement to Daryl Dike after it was revealed his injury will keep him out for months.

The United States international took to Instagram to thank everyone for their support and said that he’ll be focusing on his recovery.

To this Townsend replied and said, “Gutted for you mate, you’ll be back stronger.”

Big blow

Dike’s absence will undoubtedly be a huge blow to West Brom and their chances to secure promotion this season as they’re very much in contention.

Winning their game in hand will see them in the play-off spots and games in the end of the season are often decided by one moment – something which the US striker could provide.

However, this is a bad injury and it will be a miracle if we even see him returning to action before the end of the calendar year.

West Brom

He will be undergoing surgery on his Achilles, per the club’s official website and the timeline of his return is six to nine months.

Hopefully, he takes it easy and does not push himself to an early return as it can lead to setbacks which could have devastating long-term effects.

The 22-year-old will also want to be ready to play in the World Cup in 2026 and knows that he’ll have to make the most of the international breaks which he’s now very likely to miss this year.

In other West Brom news, a defender may never feature for the club again after what happened and may even leave for free.
