Ian Pearce West Brom future update emerges amid Stoke City links

Ian Pearce will reportedly be staying put at West Brom despite links with EFL rivals Stoke City who wanted to bring him to the club.

According to Express and Star [5 June], the recruitment chief will be staying at Hawthorns for the foreseeable future despite him being linked with the exit door.

Stoke will now have to look elsewhere in order to fill the vacancies at the Bet365 Stadium.

Good news

Amid all the backroom chaos, it’s good to see that Pearce will be staying put at the Hawthorns and will help will this summer’s recruitment.

While the signings haven’t been particularly mouth-watering, he at least knows the ethos of the club and what the manager expects.

He’s worked with Corberan and understands the quality of players he wants to bring through the door and he will have started his work before the summer itself.

For him to abandon all of that at once and move to Stoke would’ve been chaotic and the club hierarchy would probably not have sanctioned his exit either.

Stoke and West Brom will also be fighting for similar players and it would’ve been a conflict of interest for him to take the plans from one club and integrate them in his next one.

Whether or not he leaves after September, remains to be seen, but as of now, it’s good for the club that he will remain at the Hawthorns.
