West Brom risk asset stripping as more cash emerges at Stoke City
West Brom are at risk of being asset-stripped as Stoke City eye the Baggies’ head of recruitment Ian Pearce, according to Birmingham Live.
The Stoke Sentinel reported on Monday 5 June that the Potters are targeting Pearce as they restructure their footballing department.
Birmingham Live now claim (5 June) that Albion are at risk of being asset stripped, with Pearce likely to have more money to play with 50 miles up the M6.

Stoke are looking to be ambitious in the transfer market after plotting their way through Financial Fair Play issues and selling Harry Souttar to Leicester City for £15million.
Worrying
These are worrying times for the Baggies. The ownership’s reluctance to emerge from the background has left an uncertain cloud hanging over The Hawthorns. Staff departures should be expected over the coming weeks. Pearce would be foolish to stay on the face of it. He can either depart for an ambitious new project or remain at a club with no direction or leadership.
The same can be said for Carlos Corberan. Leeds are reportedly interested in their former employee, and it’s a move which makes a lot of sense. It will allow the Spaniard to further his career at another well-supported club. He’s shown immense loyalty, but there’s no time to wait in modern-day football.

The sooner the ownership speaks up the better. Clarity is needed when it comes to the financial situation at The Hawthorns. Until there’s some direction and honesty, the Baggies will continue to head in one direction – and that’s not back towards the Premier League.
In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer has given his seal of approval to a “very good” Baggies transfer target.
