Cardiff to complete Karlan Grant signing from West Brom despite EFL transfer sanction

Cardiff City are reportedly set to go past the hurdle to complete the signing of West Brom striker Karlan Grant this summer, according to the BBC.

The British broadcaster wrote on their website on 15 July, the EFL side have a transfer sanction which means that they cannot pay any fees for new signings.

However, they’re still expected to complete the signing for Aaron Ramsey as well as Grant.

Weird one

By the looks of it, this one is a season-long loan and Cardiff are not even paying the entirety of the 25-year-old’s wages for the upcoming campaign.

Express and Star’s Lewis Cox claims that they will be paying a majority of his wages which means that a part of it will be footed by the Baggies.

There’s a feeling that West Brom would’ve been happier if he was sold on a permanent basis as they would rake in a transfer fee.

They also would not have to pay him any more wages and could look to invest that money into signing a replacement.

It remains to be seen what the plan of action is now for Carlos Corberan and the Albion hierarchy as they’ve got some crucial decisions to make.

Players leaving is one thing, but they also need to bring in certain ones through the door and they need to do that as soon as possible.

In other West Brom news, a Sky Sports pundit has lashed out at a Baggies employee and has mooted serious consequences behind the scenes at Hawthorns.
