Medical and paperwork outstanding as Karlan Grant close to West Brom exit for Cardiff City loan transfer
Karlan Grant is close to a loan move to Cardiff City from West Brom, although a medical and paperwork are still outstanding according to journalist Glen Williams.
The Wales Online journalist is reporting that a deal for the winger is “moving quickly” although there are still things to do before a deal is considered as done.
Grant has been on the periphery under Carlos Corberan due to injuries and a difference in style and the former Huddersfield forward is now being allowed to leave, with the Welsh side paying the majority of his wages [Express and Star, 15 July].
“Karlan Grant to Cardiff deal moving quickly. We are close,” he wrote (15 July).
“Medical news and some paperwork still outstanding at time of writing, but this has moved at quite a pace.”
Excellent
While West Brom have been struggling for cash for a while, this is still a good deal despite no or at most a minimal loan fee.
The club brought in £7m for Dara O’Shea from Burnley and now they’re also getting one of the biggest wage packets off the books, freeing up space for Corberan to be able to bring in players that he actually wants here.

Grant and the manager have never really matched up, and that was part of the reason he was allowed to come to The Hawthorns to begin with.
His future looked bleak immediately once Corberan arrived at the club last season and while he got a run in the team towards the end of the season when Brandon Thomas-Asante and Daryl Dike were injured, it was never going to last.
This is a good move for everyone, and hopefully he’ll impress there enough to earn a permanent move next summer to get us some more cash in.
