Carlos Corberan explains Caleb Taylor and Tom Fellows transfer decision at West Brom
Carlos Corberan explained he did not allow Caleb Taylor and Tom Fellows to leave West Brom on loan during the transfer window as it would have left his squad too short.
Centre-back Taylor and forward Fellows spent time with Cheltenham Town and Crawley Town respectively last season.
Both players might have expected another loan to further their footballing education this term but both featured in pre-season and have made matchday squads this campaign.

Baggies boss Corberan said he now wants to keep a keen eye on both players’ development.
“Making a squad with less than 20 players would’ve been a mistake,” Corberan said in quotes reported by the Express & Star.
“Let’s say we have 18 senior players, and in Caleb and in Fellows we have the two players to complete the 20 you need to have – at least 20.
“I wanted to keep them because they were on loan last year and I want to keep them close to our ideas, to evaluate them and to help them progress.”

Great opportunity
Which is more beneficial for two of West Brom’s most precocious talents?
To go and get more football elsewhere, playing regularly in the football league? Or staying put at The Hawthorns and learning every day how the manager wants his teams to play?
It is a tricky one, and the truth is probably a little from Column A and a little from Column B but given both cannot happen at the same time then both players should look at this as an exciting opportunity.
While Corberan allowed the likes of Rayhaan Tulloch, Ethan Ingram and Jovan Malcolm to all depart for temporary stints elsewhere, Taylor and Fellows have been kept back to get more education from the Baggies boss.
Corberan has never been afraid to give youth a chance either, so both players have a great chance to impress and force their way into the reckoning at The Hawthorns. Let’s see how things progress.
