West Brom may get chance to land Carlos Corberan target Yann M’Vila after Fabrizio Romano update
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan may get another shot at signing Yann M’Vila as the free agent midfielder is still desperately seeking a new club.
French outlet RMC Sport reported on Saturday (14 October) that Albion made contact with the player’s agent in the summer to discuss a move.
Atletico Madrid were also touted as a possible destination for the 22-cap France ace, making the links with West Brom all the more bizarre.
However, Corberan knows M’Vila from their time together at Olympiacos and is said to have reached out in the hope of reuniting at The Hawthorns.
And an update provided on Fabrizio Romano’s personal Twitter page on Monday (16 October) suggests the Baggies may yet have some hope.
“Yann M’Vila, ready for new chapter as he’s still available as free agent – no talks with Atleti despite links but open to new opportunities,” he said.
“He’s training every single day since he left Olympiacos – now working two times per day in Lyon, ready for new club asap.”
The fact that M’Vila has not been in talks with Atletico, and that he is eager to join a new team as soon as possible, opens the door for Albion.

Even if it is only a short-term deal until the end of the season, West Brom can provide M’Vila with a home for the next seven months or so.
Corberan has become used to snapping up freebies due to Albion’s financial issues, so this move would make perfect sense on the face of it.
M’Vila has spent the past three years playing in the Greek Super League, so a move to the Championship would hardly be a major fall from grace.
Anyway, given it will only like be a short-term contract offered to him, the two parties can then decide whether to go separate ways next summer.
It may well be wishful thinking, but stranger things have certainly happened. If Corberan can work his magic, this would be a massive coup.
In other West Brom news, a journalist has hit out at an “outrageous” decision that has been made ahead of an upcoming Albion game.
