West Brom vs Hull City result predicted by Sky Sports pundit as play-off verdict issued

West Brom have been backed to “stick around in the play-off mix” for the duration of the Championship campaign but will have to settle for a draw against Hull City this weekend, according to David Prutton.

In his 2 November Sky Sports predictions column on the broadcaster’s website the pundit noted the “good little run” the Baggies are on under Carlos Corberan but expects them to be cancelled out by the Tigers who are also challenging at the top end of the table.

In what Prutton calls a “good test” of visitors’ staying power at The Hawthorns on Saturday (4 November) he has tipped both sides to come away with a point after 1-1 draw.

Prutton said: “West Brom are on a good little run and you would expect them to stick around in the play-off mix for the rest of the season under Carlos Corberan – who has just celebrated more than a year in charge.

“Hull have also enjoyed back-to-back wins to move back to the cusp of that top six. This kind of game is a good test of whether they can last that course, and I think it will be a draw between two good sides.”

West Brom and Hull are only separated by goal-difference currently and both come in off the back of two wins so there is logic in assuming they will have to share the points.

Liam Rosenior’s side are bound to be a step up in quality after victories over Coventry City and struggling QPR but Corberan has reason to be confident still.

The 4-0 thrashing of Preston North End just over a month ago on 30 September shows that the Baggies are anything but flat-track bullies this season.

And with Brandon Thomas-Asante and Grady Diangana each having scored in both of the previous two outings the Spaniard has a pair of in-form forwards to field.

The importance of that can’t be underestimated when so many of the attacking options in his squad have been afflicted by injury woes this term.

West Brom are in the sort of territory where a couple of results one way or the other can make a huge difference in the table but there can be some tentative belief at this stage that the Albion will still be in contention come the end of the season.

In other West Brom news, a “huge boost” takeover timeframe prediction has been issued as the situation rumbles on.
