West Brom star Conor Townsend: Leicester won’t fancy visit to ‘intimidating’ Hawthorns
West Brom defender Conor Townsend has admitted that he doesn’t think Leicester City will be looking forward to their trip to the Baggies’ “fortress” The Hawthorns.
Carlos Corberan’s side face the Championship leaders on Saturday 2 December in front of the Albion crowd and are heading into the clash in excellent form having won both of their games since the November international break.
The Baggies have been excellent at home throughout the start of the season, only losing once in their opening nine games at The Hawthorns and Townsend believes that West Brom’s recent form will worry Leicester ahead of their clash.

As quoted by the Express & Star (1 December) he said: “We know what a tough game it’ll be. They’re top of the league for a reason and we’re in a good run of form. They’ll be looking at it maybe not fancying it, coming to us where it’s been a difficult place for teams to come, that’s what we’ve made it.
“It’ll be a great game, two good teams going at it and hopefully we can come out on top. I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t full, I imagine the place will be bouncing come 12:30. Leicester fans, it’s only a short trip and they’ll sell out theirs.
“Hopefully we can continue making The Hawthorns a fortress and make it an intimidating place to come.”
Intimidating place to come
After the first few weeks of the season, most West Brom supporters would have thought it impossible that table toppers Leicester City would be intimidated by the prospect of travelling to The Hawthorns in December, but the Baggies’ recent form has made them an incredibly tough opponent.
Few teams in the Championship have been as tough to break down as Corberan’s side this season and in the last few weeks, they have managed to find the goals to put teams to bed, especially at The Hawthorns.

Leicester have experienced a bit of a wobble over the last month, dropping points in three of their last four matches and they are losing ground at the top of the table. As they look to build up some form once again, there are few places tougher to visit at the moment than The Hawthorns.
The playing squad are clearly confident as shown by Townsend’s recent comments and they have every right to be so. If they can get a result against the Foxes they will have to be considered as serious promotion contenders this year.
