Tony Brown in live-on-air meltdown over ‘criminal’ West Brom in defeat v Leicester at The Hawthorns

Tony Brown was raging at West Brom after they conceded a late goal to lose 2-1 to Leicester City at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.

Josh Maja came off the bench to equalise in the 89th minute but instead of settling for a draw, Carlos Corberan’s men seemed to throw the kitchen sink at Leicester to try and get a late winner.

Unfortunately, it backfired as Leicester broke West Brom hearts with an all-too-easy counterattack that was finished off by Harry Winks in from of the Smethwick End.

Albion legend Brown had a meltdown on BBC Radio WM after the goal went in.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM on Saturday (2 December, 02:23pm), Bomber Brown said: “That’s criminal from Albion.

“You always say you have to keep the backdoor closed. You don’t leave yourself so exposed there.

“They just go from the halfway line, it’s drilled… it’s just criminal. You’ve got to keep that backdoor closed.”

Commentator Steve Hermon then said that Corberan will be “absolutely sick” as Brown added: “He’ll be absolutely fuming. He’ll be fuming with that. I don’t know.”

Sickener

Hermon later called West Brom’s approach to stoppage time as “suicidal football” and it was exactly that.

We’ve done so well in recent weeks and we looked as though we were on course to get a good point against the Championship leaders in a tightly contested game.

But it’s not like Leicester even did anything amazing to grab that late winner. We gifted it to them!

Brown’s passion was on show on BBC radio. He was just as furious, confused and upset as every Albion fan was with the way they ended that match.

It’s hard to put it into words about how brainless it was and while Corberan will no doubt be feeling sick over the defeat, it was ultimately on him because he shouldn’t have allowed so many players to push forward late on.

All we needed was the defence to drop deeper or one more player to stay back.

It’s awful and let’s hope this doesn’t affect our momentum going forward.

In other West Brom news, the doomsday clock doesn’t care for Albion’s Championship form as it ticks down towards a deadline.
