West Brom make announcement after ‘disgusting’ Sunderland incident, ‘we are appalled’

West Brom have announced they are assisting police after being alerted to a hateful social media post referencing Bradley Lowry.

The club, confirming on their personal X account (11 December) shared they are “appalled” by the disgusting post by fans and have sent their sincere apologies to Sunderland and the Lowry family following the incident.

Albion have identified and suspended the account of a supporter pending further legal inquiries and reserves the right to issue an indefinite club ban.

The club posted on their Twitter account (11 December): “We can confirm we are assisting police after being alerted to a hateful social media post referencing Bradley Lowery.

“We are appalled by the disgusting post and offer our sincere apologies to Sunderland and the Lowery family.”

Terrible

This development is absolutely disgusting and a dreadful continuation of the hate and abuse people receive on social media that should be cracked down on immediately.

For a family who have lost a great deal following Bradley’s death should not have to undergo abuse and more despair at the hands of fans who have no right aiming hate at the matter.

West Brom

West Brom have done incredibly well to identify the user and the person should be punished to the full extent of the law after what they’ve done.

It is terrible and unnecessary from the account holder and a poor reflection on West Brom as a football club and a community.

No family should have to go through what Bradley’s family went through upon his death in 2017 and this person thinks it is right to heckle abuse at the matter.

Not right at all and a further indication of what must be done to crack down on abuse and hate online within football. Terrible development.

In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai appears to be very close to an exit from the Hawthorns amid a recent development involving a prospective takeover.
