West Brom takeover: US consortium in communication with Albion football staff as talks advance

The US consortium looking to secure a takeover at West Brom has been in communication with the club’s football staff, according to the Express and Star.

The newspaper reported on its website on Wednesday (13 December) that the consortium is viewed as “serious contenders” to complete a deal, with Albion valued at about £30million-£35million excluding debts, which takes the figure to about £60million.

It said the talks with the football staff have been centred around ways to move the Baggies forward on and off the field, with the group willing to invest with “ambitious targets”.

Positive

This all sounds like positive news as the US consortium looks to have stolen a march on the other two parties interested in taking over the club.

It also seems to have recognised the importance of building a relationship as early as possible with the West Brom staff to ensure matters can be resolved quickly if the takeover does go through.

It is imperative that Carlos Corberan doesn’t see his side ripped apart in January on the back of an excellent first half of the season.

West Brom

That’s not only because it would derail Albion’s chances of fighting for promotion, but also because the Spaniard will have caught the eyes of other clubs after how he’s managed the team during these difficult times.

It will certainly be a big job once a takeover does eventually go through, but if it is to be the American group, it seems as though they have their priorities in order.
