West Brom defender Martin Kelly injury news emerges post knee surgery

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom...

West Brom defender Martin Kelly appears to be in the final stages of his recovery post knee surgery, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that minutes with the under-21s is nothing but a positive sign and an indicator that he’s on the right track.

Carlos Corberan said recently that a decision is imminent over the 33-year-old playing for the under-21s as he looks to build back some match sharpness before being available for the senior team again.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Kelly’s situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:

Not many details are available other than he suffered a serious knee injury that required surgery.

Based on the manager’s comments, sounds like he is close to getting some bounce minutes with Under-21s so his return is on track.

He seems to be very close to returning and it’s now on the medics to make that call.

Kelly did not feature in the under-21s game on Friday, 16 December, but does seem close to making that squad in the coming weeks.

A few games for the reserves could see Corberan maybe deciding to include him on the matchday squad.

Alternatively, the Baggies could look at the upcoming January window as the perfect time to cash in on the defender’s services.

In other West Brom news, a near £7billion development may shape the club’s January plans with Carlos Corberan to be demanding.
