Lewis Cox shares West Brom takeover update as talks ‘progressing’ at The Hawthorns

Lewis Cox has provided an update on the potential takeover at West Brom, suggesting a deal with a US group is in the work and “progressing”.

Reports emerged in November that an “outright favourite” had emerged in the race to take over The Hawthorns club, after three parties expressed an interest [BBC Sport, 30 November] and it appears as those talks have continued to advance.

While there haven’t been many concrete updates since that news, the Express & Star’s Cox has suggested that talks remain ongoing and the deal continues to progress behind the scenes.

Ince

Writing for the Express & Star (1 January) he said: “A takeover is the top of every Albion fan’s wishlist and we understand the deal with a US group is very much still in the work and progressing all the time.

“That is, clearly, the big one – to put the club on a safe and sustainable standing.”

Getting closer

All over the country, people are making – and possibly already breaking – their New Year’s resolutions as we wave goodbye to 2023 and prepare for a hopefully prosperous 2024.

Of course, there is one resolution that Baggies supporters want more than any other and that is a resolution to the ongoing takeover saga at The Hawthorns so that we all sleep a little easier around the financial security of the club.

West Brom

Cox’s update does not provide much in terms of details here, but it is reassuring to know that things are still happening and progressing and the delay in information does not seem on the surface to be cause for much concern.

Still, hopefully, something a little more concrete can arrive in the coming days just to put minds at ease and allow Carlos Corberan to focus on the task at hand, which is getting the Baggies in the top six and hopefully a promotion party come May.
