Lewis Cox shares injury update on key West Brom duo John Swift and Jed Wallace
West Brom are hopeful that injuries to John Swift and Jed Wallace are not serious, Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox has said.
Swift was missing as the Baggies fell to a 1-0 defeat at Swansea City on New Year’s Day with a calf issue, while captain Jed Wallace was suffering with an adductor problem prior to the game and did not feature either.
With Jeremy Sarmiento having been recalled by Brighton and Grady Diangana heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, West Brom are struggling for forward options right now.

Cox wrote in the Express & Star (3 January) that more news should be available on Swift and Wallace in the next day or so.
“Albion will assess injuries to Jed Wallace and John Swift over the next day or so, hoped not to be serious, but with Grady Diangana heading off to African Cup of Nations duty this week options decrease further still,” Cox wrote.

Waiting with bated breath
With the injury issues the Baggies have had this season, it really is mightily impressive that Carlos Corberan has his side well in the hunt for playoff contention even accounting for the setback in South Wales.
Even before his recall, Sarmiento had struggled with injuries early in his loan spell, while Swift and Wallace had spent time on the sidelines prior to their latest omissions against Swansea.
Matt Phillips, Josh Maja and Daryl Dike are long-term absentees, while Adam Reach has only recently returned from an injury sustained prior to the start of the season so it has not been easy for the boss this term.
Corberan, supporters, and teammates alike will now be waiting with bated breath hoping that influential duo Wallace and Swift can return to the fold as soon as possible because the Baggies can ill-afford many more injury setbacks. Here’s hoping for good news over the next few days.
In other West Brom news, Tom Fellows has eased the fears after Sarmiento’s recall.
