West Brom transfer news as loan twist emerges in race for West Ham prospect Callum Marshall
West Brom are set to miss out on the loan signing of West Ham striker Callum Marshall due to an injury to Michail Antonio, according to Claret & Hugh.
The West Ham specialists wrote (January 7) that the Baggies were among the clubs interested in taking the 19-year-old striker on loan during the January transfer window.
However, with Antonio reportedly out until February following a training ground setback it looks as though any loan move has been – at least temporarily disrupted – Claret & Hugh say.

No luck
West Brom are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcement with Daryl Dike and Josh Maja among the long term absentees and Jeremy Sarmientio have been recalled by Brighton and then subsequently loaned to Championship rivals Ipswich Town.
John Swift and Jed Wallace have both had their issues recently too, while Matt Phillips is also sidelined for the forseeable future. It means in an ideal world that Carlos Corberan would add at least two attackers in January.

Whether that can happen or not remains to be seen but it looks as though Marshall is not going to be among the players joining or at least will not be available until much later in the window due to Antonio’s setback.
It sort of sums up the Baggies’ luck recently that even a player they could definitely bring in and improve cannot join right now because of an injury to a teammate. What is for sure is that Carlos Corberan needs reinforcement and quick.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are hoping to seal their first January signing after an approach for a Liverpool player.
