Dara O’Shea sends message to Daryl Dike after West Brom win v Aldershot at The Hawthorns

Former West Brom defender Dara O’Shea has sent a message to Daryl Dike after his goal-scoring return for the Baggies in their 4-1 FA Cup win over Aldershot Town on Sunday (7 January).

Dike marked his long-awaited comeback from injury with a goal as West Brom swept the National League outfit aside to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup at The Hawthorns.

The USA international, who missed almost nine months after surgery on his Achilles tendon, netted the Baggies’ third as they went 3-0 up after 27 minutes and the striker took to his Instagram account (7 January) after the game to express his delight over his long-awaited return.

Dike wrote: “Been waiting for this feeling for a long time! Thank you everyone for everything.”

And former Baggies defender O’Shea shared his response congratulating the American, writing: “Great seeing you back big man.”

Timely

Dike certainly wasted no time in reminding West Brom supporters exactly what he is all about.

It has been a very long road back for the American, but hopefully, his injury issues are now a thing of the past, especially as West Brom are wrapped under a serious injury crisis right now.

West Brom

The former Orlando City ace certainly did not look off the pace during the first half of this match, even if it was against non-league opposition. You’ve got to beat what’s in front of you and Dike contributed heavily to the win.

The fact Dike is not only back available but seemingly picking up from where he left off is a hugely encouraging development for Carlos Corberan.

West Brom face a crucial few weeks in the Championship to come after the short winter break and the Spaniard will need all the firepower he can muster amid the ongoing crisis.

Dike’s return to form cannot be more timely but Corberan must keep watch over his fitness with a fine-tooth comb and not give him plenty to do so soon after his return.

The celebration also said it all. It’s great to see Dike back on the field and clearly enjoying himself again.

In other West Brom news, two senior players could be set for an exit from The Hawthorns in January, one other youth product attracting plenty of interest already.
