Lewis Cox shares Jed Wallace ‘hope’ in West Brom injury update ahead of Blackburn Rovers clash
Lewis Cox has shared that West Brom are hopeful that Jed Wallace will have recovered from his injury to feature in the Baggies‘ clash with Blackburn Rovers.
Carlos Corberan’s side welcome Rovers to The Hawthorns on Saturday (13 January) and are looking to get back to winning ways in the Championship, having lost 1-0 to Swansea City in their last league outing on New Year’s Day.
Wallace missed that clash in South Wales and Albion’s 4-1 win over Aldershot Town in the FA Cup having picked up an injury in the clash with Leeds United, but the Express & Star’s Cox has suggested that he could return to the squad on Saturday.
Writing on his personal X account (8 January) Cox said: “Rather hoping Wallace/Swift OK for Sat first! Hope is former is fine. DR Congo final group game that Wed night (Jan 24)…”
Huge boost
Wallace has been absolutely exceptional for the Baggies so far this season and it would be a massive boost to Corberan’s side if they have their captain fit and available once again to start the showdown with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The 29-year-old hobbled off of the field during Albion’s win over Leeds United over the festive period but was exceptional during that clash at The Hawthorns, creating a number of excellent chances and really making the difference in a tight game.

While Tom Fellows has impressed on the right flank during Wallace’s absence, the West Brom captain offers a level of experience and know-how the young academy star just doesn’t quite possess and that could be key against Rovers.
Supporters have to hope that neither Cox nor Albion’s hope is misguided and Wallace will be fit and available for Saturday’s match. The Baggies need to get back to winning ways in the Championship and the clash at The Hawthorns would be the perfect opportunity.
