Doctor issues injury update on John Swift ahead of West Brom v Blackburn Rovers
We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at West Brom.
West Brom attacker John Swift potentially faced months out with a Grade 4 rupture of his calf, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert laid down the best and worst-case scenarios for the 28-year-old, who has not featured for the first team since the turn of the year.
However, Carlos Corberan claimed that it’s not that extreme and that Swift is back in training and is touch and go for the game against Blackburn on Saturday.

Speaking exclusively with West Brom News about Swift’s situation, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said:
“The best case would be muscular tightness which is a Grade O injury and the worst case would be a Grade 4 rupture.
“If it’s best case, it will be day to day management but if it’s worse, then he was looking at months out.
“However, it seems close to being towards the best case scenario based on the club updates and he’ll perhaps undergo a late fitness test now.“

Swift has been a Swiss Army knife for Corberan this season, playing in a number of positions, including striker and left wing.
In 18 league games, he’s scored six goals and provided an assist – being one of the side’s most potent threats in the final third.
It remains to be seen if he’s directly thrown back into the starting eleven or it takes a game or two before he’s ready to play the full 90 minutes.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are in line to receive a windfall after transfer news has emerged from the Hawthorns this week.
