Carlos Corberan shares Jayson Molumby fitness update ahead of West Brom v Norwich City clash
Carlos Corberan has provided an update on Jayson Molumby’s fitness, confirming the West Brom midfielder will miss the clash with Norwich and could face a longer spell on the sidelines.
The Republic of Ireland international hasn’t featured since the Baggies’ 1-0 defeat at the hands of Swansea City but was expected to return against the Canaries on Saturday (20 January) having missed the wins over Aldershot Town and Blackburn Rovers.
However, the 24-year-old has not managed to recover in time for Saturday’s showdown and is set to remain out of action for the foreseeable future as Albion await a second opinion from medical experts.
As quoted by the Express & Star (19 December) he said: “Molumby unfortunately is different because the injury didn’t progress in the way how we expected it to progress.
“He kept having pain and we have sent him to the specialist, we are going to improve the investigation in his injury, we want a second opinion to manage it better. He is not going to be ready to play with us in the next weeks.
“I don’t know exactly and expect to know in the next hours, or tomorrow or Monday I will know more about how many weeks he is going to be out. We can guarantee he is not going to be in the next game.”
Unfortunate blow
While Molumby hasn’t been a regular starter for West Brom this season, the 24-year-old has appeared to have begun to find his feet in the Baggies’ midfield over the festive period.
Unfortunately, it looks as though he won’t be able to build upon those performances in the next few weeks, but Albion and Corberan are fortunate that they have plenty of depth in the middle of the park to cover his absence.

With John Swift back fit and available alongside the impressive form of Okay Yokuslu, Alex Mowatt and Nathaniel Chalobah, the Baggies should have more than enough quality to claim all three points against Norwich and extend their winning run.
Hopefully, the second medical opinion is a bit more positive for Molumby and the Irishman will be able to make a quick return to the fold in the next few weeks at The Hawthorns.
