West Brom face possible Kyle Bartley transfer decision amid Luton Town development

West Brom defender Kyle Bartley is a January transfer target for Premier League side Luton Town, according to The Telegraph.

Mike McGrath reported for the publication’s online edition on Tuesday (23 January) that Bartley is on a shortlist of centre-back options for Town.

Bartley, who is due to be out of contract at The Hawthorns in the summer, has played 25 times for the Baggies in all competitions this season.

No surprise

Bartley is one of a number of West Brom players out of contract at the end of the season, meaning it is no surprise to see him touted as a target for another club.

As a player who has performed well at Championship level and also boasts experience in the Premier League, it is perhaps more surprising that these links have not emerged sooner.

Should Luton follow through on this initial interest and make an offer, Albion will have a massive decision to make with regards to whether to keep hold of Bartley or sell.

If you ask Carlos Corberan for his thoughts, he will of course be desperate to keep hold of one of his regular picks. However, the club risk losing him for nothing in five months’ time.

With the takeover situation dragging on, the fear is that any offers of a decent fee for soon-to-be out-of-contract players will just be accepted.

While it is important West Brom stay afloat financially, nobody wants to see an important player move on. In that case, let’s just hope this initial interest does not come to anything else.

In other West Brom news, Adrian Goldberg has slammed a “ludicrous” upcoming development that will impact Corberan and his players.
