West Brom link with Bologna on the cards as Shilen Patel emerges as ‘top bidder’ in Hawthorns takeover

West Brom have been very impressive on the pitch in recent times, with their off-field issues making the performances even more impressive.

The Albion have been distracted by ongoing boardroom problems for far too long, but fans could finally be put out of their misery.

As per The Business Journals (25 January), Tampa area investor Shilen Patel has now emerged as a top bidder for the Baggies.

Patel would certainly be an interesting route for the club to go down in their search for stability both on and off the pitch, and indeed promotion back to the big time as soon as possible.

Not only could West Brom rely on his wealth, but on an equally important level, his experience in football, with The Business Journals noting that Patel holds an ownership stake in Serie A outfit Bologna.

The club currently occupy seventh place in the top flight of Italian football, a position Baggies fans can only dream of taking up in the Premier League.

But that may just become one step closer with the introduction of Patel, who is the son of Tampa billionaire investor and entrepreneur Dr. Kiran Patel.

The US city does, of course, already have strong ties to the Premier League, with the Glazer family, who owns the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, holding a majority stake in Manchester United.

Any deal at The Hawthorns will, of course, take plenty of time, so for now Carlos Corberan and his players must continue working hard on the training ground and fighting for points on the pitch.

In other West Brom news, a Premier League player has sent a three-word message to Andi Weimann after a career milestone for the forward.
