West Brom transfer news as Wolves might beat them to Blackburn Rovers ace Jordan James signing
West Brom may find it extremely hard to secure the services of Blackburn midfielder Jordan James ahead of Wolves in the window.
Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera Bergamo reported in its print edition on Sunday (21 January) that West Brom were among a host of clubs keen on the 19-year-old.
However, any deal was unlikely to come cheap with the Lancashire club demanding £8.6million.
Fabrizio Romano reported on 27 January that Wolves are also keen on signing the 19-year-old ahead of the transfer deadline.
The Telegraph reported in December that Wolves will be able to bring in two signings in the January transfer window.
They also reported that the club plans to raise funds by selling some of their deadweight and they’ve already got Fabio Silva off the wage bill after he moved to Rangers on loan.
Wolves being in the Premier League too, automatically disadvantages West Brom and the fact that they’ve got an ongoing takeover situation means they cannot really afford to spend the big fees.
Top-flight clubs often have greater financial resources, prestige and allure than Championship clubs.
They can offer higher wages, better facilities, and the opportunity to compete at a higher level, which attracts top talents.
Additionally, Premier League sides have more exposure globally, making them more appealing destinations for players seeking visibility and career advancement.

Having been a top-flight side for a few years, Wolves can afford to pay higher transfer fees and wages, facilitating negotiations with both players and their current clubs.
Hopefully, the Baggies make it to the play-offs and return to the Premier League next season.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies are now extremely keen on securing a deal for a Premier League striker in January who made headlines this season.
