Bolton want to sign West Brom player Caleb Taylor in Deadline-Day crisis move

Bolton Wanderers are trying to sign West Brom defender Caleb Taylor in a late loan move to help get them out of an injury “crisis” in defence, according to Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist shared via his Patreon on 1 February that the League One club have targeted Taylor as a quick fix for their defensive issues on a short-term loan deal.

Taylor was kept at The Hawthorns in the summer for depth, but Carlos Corberan has handed him just three Championship appearances so far this season, so a loan move could be on the cards.

Let him go

With only three league appearances to his name alongside just one cup appearance, it would be beneficial for all parties to let Taylor leave on loan before the January transfer window closes.

Not only will he give Bolton an answer to their defensive problems amid an injury crisis, but he will also be able to play regular football, benefiting both Taylor and West Brom in the long term.

The Albion centre-back spent last season on loan at Cheltenham in League One, where he made 45 appearances, so has already proven he is cut out for that level of football.

Bolton are aiming for promotion this season, which would see Taylor playing at a higher level than he has before in terms of the competition in the squad in a huge boost for his development.

West Brom

All eyes will be on him should he move away, with a future at The Hawthorns still on the cards as he is highly rated by the club, particularly with contracts set to expire in the summer which could hand him an improved position in the squad.
