West Brom: Guochuan Lai repayment date passes as Warmfront Holdings development emerges
A company that West Brom owes millions has now changed its name after a Guochuan Lai repayment date has passed, according to TheLiquidatorPodcast.
The podcast, which is hosted by Chris Lepkowski and Adrian Goldberg, tweeted on Friday (9 February) that Warmfront Holdings has changed its name to AH Holdings.
It added that this may be “pure coincidence”, but it noted that the date for the Baggies’ controlling shareholder’s repayment to the Brierley Hill-based company, which is run by Alex Hearn, has now passed.
“Warmfront Holdings, the Brierley Hill-based company run by Alex Hearn, which is owed millions by Baggies controlling shareholder Guochuan Lai has just changed its name to AH Holdings,” said the podcast. “This may be pure coincidence, but the date for Lai’s repayment has just passed.”
What does this mean for West Brom?
This is quite an interesting update as Alex Hearn has been keen to strike a deal with Lai to complete a takeover at West Brom over the past few months alongside Chris Farnell.
Whether or not this development has anything to do with the local businessman’s Albion ambitions is unknown, but it seems too much of a coincidence that it has arrived just as the repayment date has passed.
Farnell recently sent a signed letter to Lai, where he suggested proof of funds totalling £110million could be provided to take a minority stake in the club.
It will be interesting to see what unfolds over the coming days as more details emerge on Hearn and Farnell’s ambitions as well as what is happening regarding the scheduled repayments.
But this situation really needs to be resolved as soon as possible for the club and the fans to put this mess behind them and start moving forward again.
