West Brom mooted to sell Daryl Dike after ‘Sad’ development – Pundit

West Brom may look to sell Daryl Dike in the summer amid his recent fitness woes and a fresh Achilles tendon injury, according to Carlton Palmer.

The Baggies confirmed on 12 February that he’ll require surgery on his ruptured Achilles, keeping him out for a long time. [Official website]

Dike had already missed the majority of the season due to an injury and may not be back again before May.

They [West Brom] don’t have the funds to bring another player in. They put all their money into Daryl Dike. I think in the last couple of seasons, had he been fit, they would’ve been pushing to get promotion. It’s one of those things.

“But, if he’s unable to play, potentially West Brom may look to move him on in the summer. It’s sad, but that’s the seriousness of the situation.”

Have we seen the last of Dike in a West Brom jersey?

Dike’s played just 49 minutes of league action this season and has not even made a single start.

It seemed like he was building up his fitness by coming off the bench but now any momentum generated has been derailed.

In September, he was ruled out of training for the next 12 weeks and it looked like he was returning to full fitness around Christmas after his training footage emerged.

His contract at the club runs out until 2026 so the Baggies are not at any risk of losing him on a free transfer.

The American can continue his rehabilitation at the Hawthorns and closer to the summer, a call can be made after having discussions with him.

It will also depend on if the Baggies have successfully secured promotion to the Premier League or if it’s another year in the second tier.

In other West Brom news, footage has emerged as a journalist shares what the Baggies fans did to Daryl Dike in the Cardiff clash post his injury.
