West Brom: Agents try to get in Shilen Patel ear to sack Carlos Corberan at The Hawthorns
Shilen Patel already has agents in his ear telling him to replace Carlos Corberan as West Brom head coach, according to The Sun journalist Justin Allen.
Writing on the newspaper’s website (February 18), Allen reported how agents and advisers are offering the services of new managers to West Brom’s new owner.
However, Allen added that Patel should be stating in no uncertain terms that the popular Spaniard is the man to try and lead the Baggies back to the Premier League.
It was announced on Thursday that Patel and his father had agreed a deal to acquire an 87.8 per cent stake in West Brom, bringing an end to the Guochuan Lai era at The Hawthorns.
Exchange and completion is expected to take place sometime in the coming week.
Shilen Patel must not sack West Brom boss Carlos Corberan at The Hawthorns
It goes without saying that any new owner will want to stamp his own authority on a club and do things his way and Patel will no doubt have his own thoughts on what he wants to do when he fully gets in the door.
Having said that, what you don’t want to do is get off on the wrong foot with the fanbase. It is great news that the Baggies can start looking forward to a world after Lai there is no doubt about that.

But Patel could make a real statement of intent by sticking with one of the brightest young managers in the EFL, one who has done an excellent job at The Hawthorns this season in extremely tough circumstances.
If Corberan were to be sacked it feels like a decision that could one day come back to haunt the Baggies. Instead it feels far more sensible to let the Spaniard continue the excellent job he is doing and, hopefully, all parties can achieve the ultimate dream of Premier League football.
