West Brom: BBC WM commentator shares what Shilen Patel says about exit-linked star Tom Fellows

Steve Hermon has shared details about what new owner Shilen Patel makes of exit-linked West Brom midfielder Tom Fellows.

Fellows started and scored in Albion’s 3-0 victory against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Tuesday (20 February).

The 20-year-old was linked with Everton and Leicester City earlier in the season, but he has since signed a new contract at The Hawthorns.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM [20 February, 8:50pm], Hermon said: “We were told earlier that Shilen Patel, the prospective new owner, his favourite player is Tom Fellows.”

Tom Fellows linked with The Hawthorns exit

Patel was not in attendance at Home Park, but he saw Fellows up close in last week’s 2-0 loss at home to Southampton as a half-time substitute.

That was not exactly Fellows’ finest evening, but he has otherwise been brilliant since breaking into West Brom’s XI.

The academy product scored a tap-in against Plymouth to round off a fantastic win – albeit with the occasional sloppy moment – that keeps Albion’s play-off prospects well and truly on track.

Fellows now has four goals and an assist in his past eight games in all competitions, with some important goals in that run.

The speculation is understandable, and it is unlikely to go away on the basis of him signing a new contract with the club.

However, now that Patel is in place, there is absolutely no reason for the Baggies to consider cashing in on one of their hottest talents in a long time.
