West Brom: Carlos Corberan and Shilen Patel WhatsApp contact detailed

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan has been in regular WhatsApp contact with new owner Shilen Patel since the club’s takeover, as per a report by John Percy.

Patel’s takeover at the Hawthorns was officially ratified this week and Telegraph journalist said that Patel first help a meeting with the Baggies boss as long ago as October.

With West Brom fifth in the table and aiming to cement their play-off berth in the next few months, there is seemingly already regular contact with Corberan and Patel.

Percy wrote in The Telegraph (1 March): “A humble, yet clearly wealthy man, Patel has grand designs for his new football club with the ultimate goal a return to the Premier League and then keeping them there. Ever since he first made his interest known in September, West Brom’s senior staff identified him as the preferred bidder to buy the club.

“Patel held talks with Corberan the following month to discuss his plans, and almost six months later, the pair are now in regular contact on WhatsApp.”

These are exciting times to be associated with West Brom again as they look to claw themselves out of the Championship.

Patel’s arrival has sparked optimism in the fanbase at the Hawthorns and he has grand plans to get the Baggies back into the top flight.

He has a manager at the helm already in Corberan who is doing a decent job and is a popular figure at the club.

The Spaniard, who has worked at Leeds United under Marcelo Bielsa in the past, got Huddersfield Town to the play-off final back in 2022. However, his Terriers’ team were denied promotion after losing at Wembley to Nottingham Forest.

Corberan knows how to get the best out of a side in the second tier and Patel needs to back him this summer, even if the Baggies aren’t able to get over the line. They face Coventry City at home next as they look to keep their momentum going.
