Carlos Corberan simply must bring on Semi Ajayi if he wants to secure a victory for West Brom against Queens Park Rangers on Wednesday (6 March).
The Nigerian international started on the bench against the Rs after struggling to earn regular minutes in the side throughout this calendar year.
With Kyle Bartley ruled out with what is believed to be a knock for the clash at Loftus Road, the 30-year-old centre-back could come on and provide some more stability to the backline.
While Albion are leading 2-1 at the break following two quick-fire goals from Mikey Johnston and Grady Diangana, they have looked a little bit shaky at the back at times.
Ajayi could come on to replace Erik Pieters, who started in the heart of the defence alongside Cedric Kipre.
The Dutch left-back, who has played at centre-half several times this season, made an error in the build-up to former Baggies midfielder Sam Field opening the scoring for the hosts.
It wasn’t the finest moment for the 35-year-old and Corberan could be tempted to either replace him and ensure no further errors are made or add in another defender to go to three at the back.
While Pieters made three clearances throughout the first half, he did look slightly shaky as he looked to deal with the threats posed by the Rs’ forwards [SofaScore].
Ajayi would be chomping at the bit to come on and provide an impact for the Baggies as he looks to earn more regular minutes in the side.
Corberan knows a victory at Loftus Road would be a massive result on their way to sealing a place in the Championship playoffs this season.
Perhaps Ajayi could be just the man to help them get over the line in the second half in West London.
