Adam Reach flops in 4/10 stinker – West Brom player ratings v QPR

West Brom will feel as if they dropped two points as they drew 2-2 with 19th-placed QPR on Wednesday (6 March).

QPR took a surprise lead in the 17th minute when Sam Field bundled home against his former side from close range after the Baggies had failed to clear their lines.

Carlos Corberan’s side turned the match on its head with two goals in as many minutes as Mikey Johnston scored yet another wonder goal in the 25th minute before Grady Diangana smashed home in the 27th minute.

However, after offering very little going forward in the second half, West Brom were punished once more when Field once again found the back of the net late on to equalise for the hosts.

It leaves West Brom fifth in the Championship, five points ahead of Norwich City in seventh.

West Brom News has rated the Baggies players out of 10 for their performances at Loftus Road.

Alex Palmer – 6

Slightly at fault for QPR’s opener as he parried Ilias Chair’s long-range strike back into a dangerous area which allowed the ball to be played across the box for Sam Field to bundle home. However, he made up for his mistake with a big save from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.

Darnell Furlong – 7

Had to do most of his work in the defensive areas at Loftus Road and was the hero for West Brom as he cleared Lewis Cook’s spectacular acrobatic effort off the line in the 84th minute. He tidied things up at the back early on after Okay Yokuslu had given the ball away in midfield and he was on hand to put the ball behind for a corner as QPR flashed the ball across the box during the first half.

West Brom centre-back Cedric Kipre will consider himself a lucky man after clash with QPR

Cedric Kipre – 5

While he didn’t put much of a foot wrong defensively, the fact that he was still on the pitch at full-time will have infuriated QPR. With the ball heading goalward, Kipre appeared to steer the ball away from danger off the goalline by using his hand and he was incredibly fortunate not to concede a penalty and be sent off.

Erik Pieters – 6

After a very sloppy loose touch early in the first half which offered QPR a route toward goal, Pieters recovered well and looked relatively composed at the back for the majority of a match in which he had a lot of defensive work to do.

Adam Reach – 4

Reach had a shaky night at left-back. He put the ball behind for a QPR corner with a sloppy header under little pressure before giving the ball away with a poor misplaced pass at the back. He was then penalised for a handball inside the penalty area, although Palmer spared his blushes by saving Michael Frey’s penalty in the 51st minute. Reach was then replaced by Pipa on the hour mark.

Okay Yokuslu – 6

Looked tidy on the ball throughout the first half and helped West Brom recycle possession, but lost his way in the second half and was replaced late on as part of a triple change by Corberan.

Alex Mowatt – 6

Similar to his partner in midfield, Yokuslu, he looked tidy on the ball in the first half. However, he struggled to make any impact going forward and was forced to do most of his work in his own half during the second 45 minutes at Loftus Road.

Tom Fellows – 6

After a quiet start to the match, he made his mark in the 27th minute by playing a wonderful ball into the feet of Grady Diangana who smashed home to give the Baggies the lead. Was hardly able to get involved in proceedings after this before being replaced by Semi Ajayi just after half-time.

Grady Diangana – 6

Just like Johnston, more or less anonymous up until his goal. However, he showed plenty of quality to put West Brom in front as he found space in the penalty area, latched onto Fellows’ ball into the box and smashed it home. Other than his goal, he made little to no impact on the game.

Mikey Johnston – 7

Another match, another unbelievable Johnston strike. After a quiet start to the match, he scored a screamer as he cut inside and fired a vicious strike into the top left-hand corner off the post and in. Just like his fellow West Brom forwards, he didn’t offer much more quality in the final third.

Jed Wallace – 5

Was incredibly sloppy in the buildup to QPR’s opening goal as he failed to clear his lines which allowed the hosts to take the lead. In addition to his shortcomings defensively, he did very little to make up for this mistake going forward, offering very little in the final third.
