West Brom fans can breathe sigh of relief as Shilen Patel issues Carlos Corberan verdict

West Brom have certainly been through many ups and downs over the last few years, both on and off the pitch.

But a bright future is on the cards after US businessman Shilen Patel completed the takeover of West Bromwich Albion from Chinese businessman Guochuan Lai last month.

Plenty of issues lie ahead of the new owner at The Hawthorns, but there are also several reasons for optimism.

And one major reason for such optimism is the presence of talented manager Carlos Corberan in the dugout.

Amid all the background noise, the Spaniard has done a superb job at The Hawthorns, helping the Baggies keep their standards high in the Championship in recent times.

That has certainly been the case this season, with the Albion currently occupying fifth place in the table, with a playoff spot certainly on the cards.

Are West Brom in danger of losing Carlos Corberan?

Worryingly, however, interest in Corberan from elsewhere has been speculated, but Patel has now put the minds of fans at ease with his latest comments about the man in the dugout.

“To have an individual already in place like Carlos Corberan is not something to worry about,” said Patel, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“To have someone like Carlos already allows you to think about the best outcomes, rather than worrying about what’s next.”

With or without promotion to the Premier League, losing Corberan would be a real blow, with the manager having worked very hard to both improve results and fan satisfaction levels at the Midlands club.

West Brom boss Carlos Corberan

For now, all the boss can do is continue picking up points in another very competitive Championship campaign.
