West Brom: Mark Miles shares injury updates on Daryl Dike, Matt Phillips and Josh Maja

Mark Miles has provided an injury update on West Brom trio Daryl Dike, Matty Phillips and Josh Maja during the Albion Assembly Meeting.

The Baggies have suffered with several injury problems throughout the season but Carlos Corberan has navigated the team to a playoff position with just eight games remaining of the campaign.

Corberan was forced to bring in three attackers during the January transfer window to help cope, and while speaking to fans at the Albion Assembly Meeting (28 February, published 21 March) he provided an update on current first-team players on the sidelines.

“MM gave an update on injuries, starting with Daryl Dike,” they wrote.

“He said the striker has had an operation and, although he was upset when it happened, Daryl has been taken back by the love and affection from supporters and staff.

“He confirmed they would try and get him involved in a variety of club activities during his rehabilitation.

“MM also added that he was hopeful Matt Phillips and Josh Maja would be back in good time for the run-in.”

West Brom hopeful of being at full strength

A playoff spot is far from guaranteed right now for West Brom, but with the recent form of the team most fans are confident that they are going to be in the mix.

That makes the strength and depth of the squad even more important and with the injury issues the team has had this season, every fan has a right to be concerned about how they may shape up.

Dike is likely to miss most of 2024 after suffering another serious achilles injury, and there is no guarantee that he will ever be able to come back and be the same player he once was.

But players like Phillips and Maja have both had important moments this season for West Brom and have the quality in the final third to really make a difference in the big games.

Having those players back and giving the manager options to choose from in a win-or-go-home scenario can only be a good thing, and with Corberan being so good at adapting the Baggies cannot be ruled out of getting back to the Premier League.
