West Brom want to sign Huddersfield midfielder Brahima Diarra as contract news emerges

West Brom are in the hunt to sign Huddersfield midfielder Brahima Diarra on a free transfer this summer, according to Sudinfo.

Writing on their website (16 April), the Belgian news outlet report that the 20-year-old midfielder has been frozen out at the John Smith’s Stadium after refusing to agree terms on a new contract.

It has been reported that several clubs are now interested in signing him, including top-flight clubs in Belgium and Portugal as well as the Baggies, Leicester and Hull in the English Championship.

Will West Brom be busy in the summer transfer window?

It’s been a long time since West Brom were able to spend some money on bolstering their squad, rather than relying on free transfers and loans.

But with Shilen Patel now at the helm the chances of that changing are high, with new deals likely to be handed out also. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t good players who will improve the squad that can’t be got in cut-price deals.

Diarra is a super talented midfield player with great technique and physical attributes and he is also someone who would fit into a Carlos Corberan team seamlessly.

There is likely to be heavy competition for his signature but with Corberan having been at Huddersfield while Diarra was coming through the ranks there, there is potentially a relationship there already.

That can only be a good thing for the Baggies as they look to strengthen the squad, and if they can add him to a Premier League squad for next season then things really will be on the up at The Hawthorns.
