West Brom supporters will be delighted by Okay Yokuşlu announcement on Friday
West Brom will have some representation at the 2024 UEFA European Championship in the form of Okay Yokuşlu.
The Championship season is over and international football is set to take centre stage.
The Euros will kick off in Germany on 14 June when the host nation take on Scotland. For supporters of clubs in England’s second tier, there won’t be too many Championship players to keep an eye on.
However, there will be a West Brom fan favourite at the tournament this summer.
As per the club’s official website (7 June), Yokuşlu has been selected for Türkiye’s final squad.
Having been named in the provisional squad, the 30-year-old did not feature in the 0-0 draw with Italy on Tuesday (4 June).
Nonetheless, head coach Vincenzo Montella has named Yokuşlu in the final 26-man squad, which will face Georgia, Portugal and Czechia in the group stages.
West Brom supporters will be keen to catch a glimpse of Okay Yokuşlu at the Euros
Yokuşlu featured prominently for the Baggies last season.
He played 44 times in the Championship as Carlos Corberan’s side finished fifth.
As per fbref, he was among the top 11 per cent of Championship midfielders for his pass completion rate (87.1 per cent per 90), and the top ten per cent for his pass completion rate over a medium distance (91.6 per cent per 90).
He was also solid defensively, ranking among the top 10 per cent of his positional peers for the percentage of dribblers he tackled (63.2 per cent per 90), and the top seven per cent for the number of clearances he made (2.07 per 90).
Furthermore, he ranked in the 95th percentile for the number of touches he made in his own penalty area (3.52 per 90), and the 91st percentile for the number of touches he made his defensive third (18.61 per 90).
Finally, he ranked in the 99th percentile for the percentage of aerials he won (72.1 per cent per 90).

Yokuşlu is likely to have an important role to play again next season and West Brom supporters will wish the midfielder well at the Euros, with Carlos Corberan likely happy.
Unless, of course, Türkiye come up against England.
