Carlos Corberan named as most important person at West Brom after Leicester City news

Dan Bardell believes that Carlos Corberan is the most important person at West Brom after Leicester City turned their interest to Steve Cooper as their new manager.

The Foxes have reportedly placed Cooper at the top of their list to become their next manager after the departure of Enzo Maresca [talkSPORT].

This has boosted the chances of the Baggies keeping hold of Corberan ahead of next season after links to the job at the King Power.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that this news is huge given the value that the Spaniard adds to the whole club on and off the pitch.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Bardell said: “He’s the most important person at the football club. I don’t think you’d say that about many managers of other teams particularly in a league like the Championship.

I think he’d be a huge loss and West Brom would have struggled without him. If they can fend off Leicester then they should be able to get through the summer with him in charge.

That would be huge for the football club. Losing him is unthinkable to West Brom, it really is. I understand why Leicester would be interested but I see why they might not pull the trigger.

West Brom set to keep hold of Carlos Corberan

The Baggies will have been desperate to keep hold of their manager ahead of the new season such is his popularity and impact on the club.

The club were heading in a bad direction after relegation from the Premier League and under the management of Steve Bruce things were far from ideal.

Corberan has transformed the club’s fortunes from his favour among club staff to the results on the pitch improving.

After a play-off finish last season, he will be looking at doing the same, if not better in the upcoming campaign at the Hawthorns.

A move to Leicester would have made sense given that they have just been promoted and he would have had an opportunity to manage in the Premier League.

Whether he turned down a move or the Foxes opted to move on to a different option, it is still great news that he is set to stay.
