West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu is in discussions over signing a three-year contract with Besiktas, according to Sports Digitale.

The Turkish outlet posted on X (8 July) to state that, while the two clubs were yet to reach a financial agreement, negotiations between Yokuslu and Besiktas are continuing over a move to the SuperLig side.

Transfer speculation regarding Yokuslu has been simmering for much of the window so far and that speculation has increased further following Turkey's elimination from Euro 2024.

Sports Digitale's post also mentions that other clubs based in Turkey have expressed their interest in signing the Albion star and have reached out to make contact with the midfielder.

Okay Yokuslu looks most likely player to leave West Brom

As one of the star players in Carlos Corberan's side last season, it's clear that Yokuslu was always going to attract interest this summer, heightened by Albion's failure to win promotion from the play-offs [Ertan Süzgün, 5 July].

The Baggies' fifth-placed finish is something they'll be looking to improve upon next season and two new signings are through the door so far to try and build a squad capable of going even further this campaign.

Losing Yokuslu could leave quite the hole in defensive midfield, despite the acquisition of Ousmane Diakite from TSV Hartberg and re-signing of the Turk's regular partner Alex Mowatt on a two-year deal [Club website, 1 July].

However, as one of Albion's most high profile and highly valued players, the club still look likely to make a handsome profit on the 30-year-old, whom they signed for free from Celta Vigo in 2022.

No financial agreement may have been reached yet, but with Besiktas and a whole host of other Turkish clubs chasing the Baggies' international midfielder, Corberan and the club must be ready to find a strong replacement for one of their key cogs.
