Okay Yokuslu exit update emerges at West Brom amid £1.2m Besiktas development
There is a “high” chance Besiktas will complete the signing of West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu for £1.2million this summer, according to Gokem Ozcan.
The Fanatik journalist reported via X on Monday (8 July) that while the Baggies are looking for a fee of £1.7million [€2million] for the Turkish midfielder, Besiktas have proposed an initial offer of £845,000 [€1million].
While no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs, the Turkish giants are believed to be willing and ready to match the 30-year-old’s salary demands as he closes in on the Albion exit door.
Will Okay Yokuslu exit West Brom in the summer transfer window?
Having missed out on promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs last term, the Baggies were always going to be running the risk of losing some of their best players this summer and that appears to be the case with Yokuslu.
In an ideal world, Carlos Corberan would have wanted to keep the core of his side at The Hawthorns this summer and add a couple of new additions to help prepare his side to go one step further and win promotion next term.
But with Yokuslu’s contract up next summer, Albion will not be in the driving seat in these negotiations. If they want to pocket a fee for the 30-year-old instead of losing him for nothing next year, they might have to compromise.
It does seem as though the two clubs will be able to meet in the middle in some sort of a compromise and while West Brom may feel the midfielder is worth more than £1.2million, that will be money that Corberan can reinvest this summer.
Hopefully, any negotiations can be completed quickly now that Turkey have exited Euro 2024 because the last thing the Baggies will want is speculation rumbling on in the background throughout pre-season.
In other West Brom news, Henry Winter was delighted by what the Albion have done since the season ended.
