Hull City want to sign West Brom star Okay Yokuslu in fresh transfer update

Hull City have started an attempt to sign West Brom star Okay Yokuslu this summer, according to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

Writing on his personal X account (10 July), the Sports Digitale journalist reports that the Championship rivals are set to battle for the services of the Turkey international midfielder.

Besiktas are also interested [Sports Digitale, 7 July] in the 30-year-old and have offered him a three-year deal, while Trabzonspor have also opened talks for a deal with his agent [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, 8 July].

West Brom face battle to keep Okay Yokuslu

West Brom need to keep much of their squad together if they want to get to the Premier League, but there is also a bigger picture to look at at The Hawthorns this summer.

The club are open to sales to raise cash to bolster their squad this summer [Express & Star, 27 May], and that’s because Shilen Patel is keen to avoid losing players for nothing or having them overstay their welcome.

Yokuslu is still a key player for Carlos Corberan’s midfield but he is on the wrong side of 30 now and is entering the final year of his contract with the club.

That means this is the final chance to sell him and bring some money in, or they risk losing him for nothing next summer if he doesn’t renew his deal and extend.

But new terms would likely mean a potential pay rise for a player who may now be on the wrong side of the mountain and on his way down, so decisions need to be made.

If a big offer comes in, even from a rival in the league, it may be something that is seriously considered despite how fans may feel about it.

In other West Brom news, the club want to sign Oliver Norwood on a free transfer.
