Hull City eye breakthrough in Okay Yokuslu transfer talks in new West Brom exit update
Hull City are looking to forge a breakthrough in talks with West Brom over the signing of Okay Yokuslu, according to Hull Live.
The outlet reported on its website on Monday (15 July) that the Tigers hope to make progress in the coming days in regards to incoming transfers, with the Baggies midfielder one target on the agenda.
Tim Walter’s side are also understood to be close to securing a new right-back, while talks continue over a loan move for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi as Jaden Philogene closes in on his summer return to Aston Villa.
Reports had suggested Hull were keen to bring Yokuslu to the MKM Stadium [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, 10 July] with Turkish giants Besiktas [Sports Digitale, 7 July] and Trabzonspor also potential suitors [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, 8 July].
Will Okay Yokuslu exit West Brom amid summer Hull City transfer speculation?
While it almost feels inevitable that Yokuslu will depart The Hawthorns this summer, West Brom supporters will be hoping that the Baggies don’t sell their star midfielder to a Championship and play-off rival.
There was little to split Albion and the Tigers last term and it would be a shame if the Baggies were to strengthen a fellow top-six contender by allowing one of their most important players to make a sideways move.
Although it would still be a shame to lose Yokuslu to one of Besiktas or Trabzonspor, that sort of transfer is at least palatable as a supporter as it feels like a sensible step for a player of the midfielder’s age and profile.
Hopefully, West Brom will at least stand firm on their valuation of the 30-year-old. If Hull want to forge a breakthrough in negotiations, they are going to have to be willing to match Albion’s asking price.
It would be incredibly surprising if Carlos Corberan’s side were happy to lower their valuation when they know the Tigers have just pocketed a multi-million-pound fee for Philogene.
