Hull City eye double deal as discussions ongoing with West Brom for Okay Yokuslu

Hull City vice-chairman Tan Kesler has confirmed that the Tigers have held talks over a move for West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu.

The Yorkshire-based club narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last season, which resulted in Liam Rosenior being sacked from his role as manager.

After the Championship disappointment, Hull are looking for reinforcements for the 2024/25 season – bolstered by the imminent sale of Jaden Philogene to Aston Villa [BBC Sport, 10 July].

As quoted by Hull Live [16 July], Hull chief Kesler said: “We are interested in [Jesurun] Rak-Sakyi and so are 15 other Championship clubs. We made the best offer.”

In terms of Yokuslu, Kesler implied that the Baggies will only sell if the price is right.

“He’s one on our target list, but we’re just talking,” Kesler said. “West Brom have some ambitions to get for him, financially.

“So if it fits, yes, why not, he could be one of the names (City sign), but if the financials are not right there is no need for us to go and invest and leverage ourselves.”

Okay Yokuslu set for West Brom departure this summer

Carlos Corberan and West Brom surprised most fans when they managed to find their way into the playoff places last season.

Although they failed to make it all the way to the Premier League, it’s a testament to how much they’ve managed to improve in recent seasons.

Of all the Baggies’ players who are likely to depart, Turkey international Yokuslu is probably the most likely.

Okay Yokuslu was a firm fan favourite at West Brom.

In addition to the interest shown by Hull, Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas have also shown their hand [Gokem Ozcan, 8 July] in terms of vying for the midfielder’s transfer.

Although a move wasn’t quite on the cards whilst the 30-year-old was representing turkey at Euro 2024, it’s been reported that upon his return, Corberan could be willing to make a deal [Cannock Chronicle, 13 July] for the right fee.

Yokuslu seems destined to depart The Hawthorns this summer, but to which team remains a mystery. This will certainly be one to keep an eye on over the summer.
