West Brom in final stages of negotiations for midfielder transfer, personal terms agreed

Okay Yokuslu is in the final stages of completing his transfer from West Brom to Trabzonspor, according to 61Saat.

The Turkish outlet reported on 21 July that Yokuslu himself had agreed terms to re-join the SuperLig side, whil negotiations between the Albion and Trabzonspor have also reached the final stage.

Signing the midfielder, who previously played for Trabzonspor from 2015–2018, was requested by coach Abdullah Avci, with his side’s management set to complete the transfer after talks with Yokuslu’s agent.

Yokuslu managed a goal and assist apiece in 48 matches for Carlos Corberan’s side last season, with the Baggies reportedly demanding a fee of £2million to sell their star midfielder [Express & Star, 18 July].

West Brom must respond to inevitable Okay Yokuslu transfer

After the Baggies performed brilliantly to reach last season’s Championship play-offs before being halted at the penultimate hurdle by Southampton, changes were likely to happen at The Hawthorns.

Of all the players who seemed certain to be sold, Yokuslu was one of the most probable, given his consistent performances at the base midfield as an ever-present in the Championship campaign.

This possibility had clearly been identified by the club’s hierarchy too, who brought in a new defensive midfielder as their first summer signing in the form of 23-year-old Ousmane Diakite.

Diakite’s arrival, plus the retention of Alex Mowatt, should make up for the control-exerting game-management that Albion will miss without Yokuslu, but further arrivals will be necessary.

Nathaniel Chalobah and Yann M’Vila had already departed at the end of their contracts, and with the £2million kitty being brought in by Yokuslu’s transfer [Cannock Chronicle, 13 July], Albion have the capital to bring in replacements.

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan can make a smart summer addition with the signing of Tyrese Campbell.
