Josh Maja scored an impressive hat-trick at Loftus Road as West Brom claimed a 3-1 victory against QPR on Saturday (10 August).

The 25-year-old forward has experienced a tough life at The Hawthorns since arriving from Bordeaux last summer, missing much of the 2023/24 campaign through injury.

With one goal in 13 Championship appearances last season, Maja has already tripled his goalscoring record, with Sky Sports showing each goal against the Hoops.

The Baggies had to come from behind against QPR, with Lucas Andersen scoring an early header, capitalising on some slack defending before Maja turned on the style.

New signing Torbjorn Heggem lifted a delightful cross into the penalty area for the striker to head home, tying up the game after just 26 minutes.

Carlos Corberan's side had to wait until the 51st minute to take an eventual lead, with Tom Fellows the provider this time as Maja scored his second header of the afternoon.

The 25-year-old topped off his performance with just his second-ever career hat-trick, taking advantage of an unlucky bounce in QPR's penalty area, and flying acrobatically in the air to smash home his third of the match.

After the torment of injuries he has endured at The Hawthorns since joining, there is nobody else who deserves the hat-trick more than Maja, and everyone could see how much it meant to him.

Of course, fans will still be wary of his injury record, but this could be a sign of things to come from the talented striker, and hopefully so after Brandon Thomas-Asante's exit to Coventry City.

Thanks to his performance at Loftus Road, the Baggies have taken an important three points from their first game of the season, sitting second in the league table for now.
