Carlos Corberan shares Karlan Grant transfer stance at West Brom

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has provided a positive update on the future of striker Karlan Grant at The Hawthorns.

The expectation was that Grant wouldn’t feature for West Brom this season (Lewis Cox, 12 July), but he started the 3-1 win over Queens Park Rangers on 10 August.

However, as shared by the Express & Star, Corberan has admitted that he now has a good outlook for the 26-year-old.

“I must work with the players I have and to get the best from him,” he said.

“Grant is a very good player, I know that. He went on loan, played minutes, and came back with a desire to give his best to the club.

“After, we’ll assess the full situation – but what I will say is that Grant has come back, is working very hard to help the club. He’s motivated. He’s in the squad. From day one, he wanted to stay here and work hard.”

Karlan Grant to stay at West Brom?

You never know what’s coming around the next corner in football.

For so long, there’s been pessimism about Grant’s future at The Hawthorns, but instead of being dragged down into a war of words over that, he has opted to get his head down and focus on the grind.

Against Queens Park Rangers, he played all 90 minutes in what proved to be a dominant win for the Baggies. Yes, Josh Maja got all the headlines with his hat-trick, but that kind of performance wouldn’t have been possible without Grant putting in the work down the flank.

This, in essence, is a story of what it means to persevere in football.

If Grant had been handed another loan spell away from the Black Country, that could’ve easily been the final nail in the coffin. There’s still a chance that he could leave before the end of the window, but he’s doing all the right things to convince Corberan he should stay.

In other West Brom news, a major development has emerged as the Baggies eye a free transfer of an ex-Manchester United player ahead of the 30 August deadline.
