
TalkSPORT commentator names next West Brom ace who could leave live on air, ‘real shame’
Chris Iwelumo says it would be a “real shame” if Tom Fellows was to leave West Brom before the summer transfer window closes.
Speaking live on talkSPORT with commentator Nigel Adderley [17 August] as Albion played out a goalless draw with Leeds United at The Hawthorns, the latter stated that Fellows could be next to leave The Hawthorns.
West Brom have already lost Cedric Kipre, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Okay Yokuslu among other experienced heads, and it has almost been a clean slate for Corberan and his side – who have albeit earned four points from their first two Championship games.
Adderley said: “There’s some talk that Tom Fellows could be the next cab off the rank at West Bromwich Albion in terms of transfer departures before the end of the window.”
Responding, the former Wolves striker added: “Yeah, he’s so, so good – a player who does everything. He’s a good technical player, works hard for the team, selfless, has quality with the ball at his feet. It’d be a real shame [if he goes], but it’s about the business model.”
West Brom fear Tom Fellows departure
West Brom must look to keep Fellows, with the forward man putting in an excellent display against Leeds to earn the plaudits.
The exciting youngster made just 16 starts last season in the Championship but was also often utilised as an impact substitute, scooping seven league goal contributions along the way.
Albion – restricted in their spending due to PSR concerns outlined by Shilen Patel – have raised funds by clearing out what some fans perceive to be “deadwood” players, but nevertheless experienced operators.
Torbjorn Heggem remains the only player the club have signed for a fee, paying around £500,000, and taking in just short of £5million on player sales.
