West Brom stance revealed on potential £10m Tom Fellows exit amid Southampton twist

West Brom will not accept Southampton’s £10million bid for 21-year-old winger Tom Fellows, according to DOOD.

The Albion news outlet posted on X (27 August) to report that if the newly-promoted Premier League side made a £10million bid for Fellows in the coming days, Albion fans can “expect” it to be rejected.

The post came in response to the news that Southampton are readying a bid of roughly that amount for Fellows [Sami Mokbel, 27 August], who excelled in their 2-1 victory over Stoke City last weekend.

DOOD followed up on their initial post in response to a question on Fellows’ true transfer value, stating on X that the club would “listen” to an offer of £20m, or consider a fee of £15m with £5m in add-ons.

Tom Fellows transfer would be worst possible move for West Brom

While rejecting a £10m bid for Fellows – given their current financial predicament [Kieran Maguire, 8 August] – would be a strong statement of intent from the Baggies’ board, an offer creeping towards £20m will test that resolve.

However, selling the crown jewel which Fellows is fast becoming, particularly with so little time left in the transfer window to replace him, would certainly not go down well with The Hawthorns faithful.

Albion fan-favourites like Cedric Kipre and Okay Yokuslu have already said goodbye to the club this summer, and losing a promising academy product in Fellows may be a step too far for the fanbase.

Corberan has already stated that he wants the club to be active in the remainder of the window with two more additions needed, but Fellows departing at this late stage would throw his plans into chaos.

Southampton will know full well of the EFL-imposed financial bind the Baggies find themselves in [Rob Dorsett, 3 August], but that shouldn’t stop Shilen Patel and co from striking a hard bargain for their most promising starlet.

In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan revealed why new signing Uros Racic wasn’t available to face Stoke City last weekend.
