West Brom in advanced talks to sell Tom Fellows before transfer deadline
Ipswich Town are in advanced talks to sign Tom Fellows from West Brom ahead of 30 August, according to Football Insider.
The online source reported [29 August] that the two clubs are locked in talks over an £11million deal, edging closer to finding an agreement before the transfer window slams shut.
It is understood that should the Baggies strike an agreement with the Tractor Boys, Fellows will travel to Ipswich’s training ground to complete a medical and complete a deal before the deadline on Friday 30 August.
West Brom to lose Tom Fellows before August 30?
Losing Fellows right before the transfer window slams shut would be a huge loss for Carlos Corberan and his team, especially after a stellar 2023/24 campaign.
The right-winger bagged four goals and three assists in 33 Championship appearances last term, carrying that form through to this season, already notching three assists in three games.
Corberan has had plenty of key exits to deal with already, with Brandon Thomas-Asante, Conor Townsend and Okay Yokuslu all being sold, but the departure of Fellows could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Selling their 21-year-old prospect would certainly lift the weight of potential PSR breaches but it would leave Corberan short of attacking options with little time to bring in reinforcements.
There will be few players at the club who can occupy the right flank quite like Fellows can, and Corberan may have to trust some of his academy prospects throughout the 2024/25 campaign instead.
The manager may have to come to terms with that, with the Premier League side edging closer to striking a deal ahead of the 30 August deadline this summer.
