Alex Palmer torn into for what he did in West Brom win v Portsmouth, ‘I’m Sorry’
Alex Palmer has been torn into by Scott Minto live on air after what he did for West Brom during their showdown with Portsmouth.
Carlos Corberan’s side continued their unbeaten start to the Championship season with a 3-0 win at Fratton Park on Sunday (15 September) thanks to a goal from Josh Maja and a second-half brace from Alex Mowatt.
Although the Baggies managed to keep yet another clean sheet, talkSPORT pundit Minto was quick to slam Palmer live on air as the Albion keeper struggled as he repeatedly attempted to play out from the back.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Sunday (15 September, 15:17) he said: “I’m sorry, but Alex Palmer again trying to play in a situation where it’s just not on.”

There have been few players more consistent in a Baggies shirt over the last couple of seasons than Palmer, but even the most positive of Albion fans would have been slightly nervous when he had the ball at his feet.
The West Brom stopper just didn’t seem able to get his radar right, particularly in the first half when he repeatedly managed to pick out a Portsmouth attacker rather than one of his own teammates.
Fortunately, it didn’t come back to bite Corberan’s side on Sunday as they managed to claim all three points to move top of the Championship and in the end, Palmer actually had very little work to do between the posts.

Minto may have been left frustrated by the 28-year-old’s display, but the majority of Baggies supporters won’t mind if Palmer takes one or two risks if it means that he continues to be this hard to beat week after week.
There are few better shot-stoppers in the division and Albion are very fortunate that no teams in the Premier League came knocking for his services.
