Adam Reach rubbishes myth about West Brom manager Carlos Corberan
Former West Brom player Adam Reach has rubbished the myth that Carlos Corberan is a whip-cracking manager.
Reach was released by the Baggies at the end of his contract in the summer after arriving at The Hawthorns in 2021, so he’s had his fair share of time with Corberan.
The Spaniard is well-known for demanding a lot from his players to get the best he can out of them. However, Reach believes that’s only because he wants to prepare his squad for in-game situations.
“He’s a manager that demands hard work for sure,” Reach said to the Football League Paper (6 October, page 20).
“But I’ve had the sort of old-school managers where pre-season is basically an army camp and all you do is run, it’s not like that with Carlos.
“It’s more focused. His mentality and he says it himself, is that he tries to make training during the week as challenging as possible because he wants to emulate game situations as much as he can.
“He wants it to be demanding and he wants it to be high energy because when you then go to Millwall on a Saturday, that’s what you’re going to get”.
West Brom need to get back to winning ways
West Brom had a stellar start to the 2024/25 season and found themselves at the top of the Championship table for a fair few weeks.
Their recent results, however, have left a lot to be desired. Although Jake Livermore believes the losses against Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough will just be a “small stumbling block” in their season, things need to turn around soon.
The Baggies’ attack has been spearheaded by an in-form Josh Maja who has found himself in some of the best form of his career.
Maja has contributed to 8 goals in the Championship so far and is currently leading the Championship’s top scorer race.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time left in the season for things to turn back in West Brom’s favour and they’ll no doubt want to start in their next game against Oxford United on 19 October.
Corberan may not be seen as a whip-crack manager by Reach but after what he posted following the Baggies’ 0-0 draw with Millwall, there’s no doubt that changes will be in the works.
In other West Brom news, fans have been left outraged after what some supporters did during their 0-0 v Millwall.
