Ex-West Brom boss Tony Mowbray sounded out for Cardiff City job
Former West Brom manager Tony Mowbray has been included on a potential list of targets for Cardiff City in their quest for a new boss, according to the Sunday Mirror.
On page 68 of the publication’s print edition [6 October], it was reported that Mowbray – who stepped down from his most recent role at Birmingham City due to health reasons earlier this year – is one of several being considered by Cardiff after sacking Erol Bulut.
Mowbray managed at The Hawthorns between 2006 and 2009, winning the 2007-08 Championship title, and has suggested he would like to return to football when his health status permits [Sunderland Echo, 3 October].

The idea of Mowbray at Cardiff is an intriguing one when taking a look at the Bluebirds, as Vincent Tan aims to appoint the 12th manager of his tenure as chairman in South Wales.
Rock-bottom of the Championship, Bulut became the division’s first managerial casualty last month and the side secured their first win over the Baggies’ most recent opponents Millwall last week.
The club have tended to go for younger managers, but Mowbray is one of the EFL’s most experienced operators while he was in his most recent roles with Birmingham and Sunderland.

When initially taking an enforced break from the game back in February to focus on medical treatment, the former Albion boss received an outpouring of support from fans and the club.
The 60-year-old was due to return to The Hawthorns to watch the match against his local club Middlesbrough last Tuesday, but was unable to attend.
